Refunds for cancellations may vary depending on your sitter's cancellation policy and the date you cancel. This is why it's always a good idea to familiarize yourself with these policies before booking.
There are four types of cancellation policies:
- Same day
- One day
- Three day
- Seven day
Here's how to view your sitter's cancellation policy:
Rover app
- Click the Services tab on the sitter’s profile
- Scroll down to the sitter's calendar.
- Select a service from the dropdown menu.
- View that service's cancellation policy under the calendar.
Computer
- Visit your sitter’s profile and scroll down to the Availability section of their account.
- Under the calendar, you’ll see a list of the sitter’s services and their cancellation policy next to each service. To review the details of each service type, hover your mouse over the cancellation policy.
Here is more information about the different types of cancellation policies:
Same day
For boarding and house sitting:
- You’ll receive a full refund if you cancel before the booking begins.
- If you cancel after the booking begins, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first 7 days of the booking. You’ll receive a 100% refund for any days after that.
For walks, day care, and drop-in visits:
- You’ll receive a full refund if you cancel before the booking begins.
One day
- You'll receive a full refund if you cancel by 12:00 p.m. the day before the booking begins.
- If you cancel later than 12:00 p.m. one day before the booking begins, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first 7 days of the booking. You’ll receive a 100% refund for any days after that.
Three day
- You’ll receive a full refund if you cancel by 12:00 p.m. three days before the booking begins.
- If you cancel later than 12:00 p.m. three days before the booking begins, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first 7 days of the booking. You’ll receive a 100% refund for any days after that.
Seven day
- You’ll receive a full refund if you cancel by 12:00 p.m. one week before the booking begins.
- If you cancel later than 12:00 p.m. one week before the booking begins, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first 7 days of the booking. You’ll receive a 100% refund for any days after that.
Note: All times are based on the sitter’s time zone
Policy for late cancellations
Refunds are determined by the sitter’s cancellation policy and the date you request to cancel the booking. Per Rover’s Terms of Service, if you cancel a booking late, you need to send your cancellation request no later than 48 hours after the booking end date in order to receive a refund for that booking.
Cancellation policies for booking modifications
In cases where you need to update dates for a booking, you aren't automatically charged a cancellation penalty. However, sitters may choose to apply their cancellation policy for these types of changes. Please contact your sitter directly via Rover Messages to see what their policies are for booking modifications.
Note: Keep in mind that modifications to a service type, stay length, or number of pets can affect the booking price.
